That's beautiful. It's funny, but I think the diagonal sidewalk is what makes the shot special -- even though the sharpness is what I love about it, the diagonal nature of the composition keeps me looking. Nice work!

    "shrinking" pictures

When I need to "shrink" several pics I use Google's Picasa 2. I used cheat by selecting the folder I want to shrink and clicking the button for e-mail. This would significantly shrink the pics to somethign reasonable.

They have updated now to include a button to "export" the pictures and you can select the dimension and saved detail you desire.

First, if you use "jpg", the file can be up to 234 kb (check the list carefully).

The Zoombrowser software you got with your camera will work. Do this:

    1. Install the zoombrowser software.
    2. Launch Zoombrowser.
    3. On the directory tree on the left side of the window, select the folder where the image is located.
    4. Near the top of the main window are 3 tabs labelled "Zoom Mode", "Scroll Mode" and "Preview Mode". Use whichever you like best to find the thumbnail.
    5. Click on the thumbnail to highlight it.
    6. Click "Edit" on the left of the window.
    7. From drop down list, click "Export Still Image". New window opens.
    8. Click box "Resize during export"
    9. Click "Long Side" circle.
    10. Enter 800 or 900 in the "pixels" box.
    11. Click on the "Calculate" button if you want to see the size the file will be. It has to be under 234k for the forum, but typically under 100K is fine at 900 pixels...
    12. If needed, click the "change file type" box and select "jpg" (you're not really changing it), then move the "quality" slider to "High". Check the file size again.
    13. Choose the location to save the file. If it is in the same directory as the original, the new image will have a "-1" added to the original file name.
    14. Click finish at the bottom.
    15. Name the new image whatever you want (keep the "jpg" extension) and you should be good to post here.

Unusualy colour for one of these.
This one under exposed -0.7 - yellow tends to blow out
very easily - and the background was dark - think I got it
about right. Not one of my best - but I just liked it

All these photos of flowers in this thread are so beautiful, so I hope that mine will qualify to appear here.

These photos are some of my first attempts at photography with my Lumix DMC-FZ8.

I think both of the following pictures were taking with the 50mm f/1.4 lens. Both were also cropped.

    manual setting, 1/400, f/2, ISO 100
