You'll have to evaluate it a bit - but basically - remembering the camera tries to average to to 18% grey - if there is a lot of dark foliage in the picture the camera will want to lighten it up a bit - this could be bad if there is a light coloured flowe in amongst it as it will get washed out - so that's when you so 'no I want it a bit darker' I like to take these in apperture priority so I can control the depth of field a bit more - but watch out for it selecting slower shutter speeds if you stop down too much
Have fun - experiment, I do!

    Thanks for the tips!

I just need to slow down and take my time. Seems that I am always rushing.
Oh well, the pics are mainly for my enjoyment anyway. I have my flowers in a seperate folder and use them as my screen saver. I really enjoy walking by the monitor and seeing all those flower pics. Here is another.

Dennis - don't worry about it - I try not to!
I just come and go as I am able to these days - sometimes I have the time other times I can only grab the odd moment - but I try to keep up as much as possible - it keeps me in touch and it keeps me inspired.
Really looking forward to your pics from New Mexico though.
    Take care

Here is one of my flower pictures. I have desaturated the background. Personally, I think the result is pretty interesting.

Have been experimenting with photoshop again. Here is the result:

By the way, nice pictures, Dustin. I really like that last one. I don't know why, but it has something special.
