Adam, very nice set. I like them all. I think the last one is my favourite. I think the depth of field is very nice in that one.

Thanks, Prospero. I like the detail on the petals of your shot. Looks like you could use some fill flash, though, to open up the shadows inside the flower.

Great shot Prospero!! - I don't know that lens - but it grabbed my attention as you have the Sigma 17 - 70 like me. Is the Kiron a lot better for close up work?
I am sitting back and considering my lens situation - though I think a flash might have to be next on the list.

Thanks for the suggestion, Adam. I took this picture indoors and it was lit by a bright desklamp. Next time I will try to supplement it with a bit of flash.

Geoff, this lens is a lot better for macro work. The Sigma can only go to 1:2.3, while this lens can go to 1:1 (which means that objects with the size of the sensor can fill the frame). It can therefore magnify twice as good. Also, the Sigma can only reach that kind of magnification at 70mm with the subject less than 5 mm away from the front element. With this lens you have a lot more working distance (somewhere around 5 cm).

The Sigma is pretty good for closeup work, but it cannot match the magnification of a real macro lens. I have posted some more information of this lens in the thread in the Nikon dSLR board.

If you do not have a flash yet, I would definitly get that first. A flash can make a lot of difference when shooting in low light, it will make results look a lot more natural than with the pop-up flash. Besides, many people use a flash with macro too.
