    Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2

Hello - I am thinking about getting either the Casio Exilim Z55 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2. What I like about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 is the 6X optical Zoom as well as the image stabilization. Plus the camera physically looks cool. But as it's barely even out I can not fin any reviews on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2. Anyone have any information on the DMC-LZ2? Thanks a lot!

I'm in the same boat as you

I'm very interested in the Lumix LZ2 as well. I need the same help as you. I've only found one review but it wasn't extensive at all and it was rated 6/10. I wonder how it is in low light conditions.

Did you see the 6/10 rating on CNET.com? If so I saw the same review. It looked like that review was from someone who only saw the camera at a show. And the main complaint they had was a lack of a view finder which is fine by me.

    Causeway and Amanda-

There is an extensive review of both the LZ-1 and LZ-2 right on this website.

Thanks. I read it and it is extensive and helpful. I also was looking for other reviews from people who have used the camera. But the review on this site is helpful.

    Question LZ2 Low Light performance...

I was very interested in the LZ2 with the zoom and image stabilizer...
but Jeff's comments at the end of his review discouraged me...

    # LCD doesn't "gain up" in low light
    # No optical viewfinder
    # Poor low light focusing; no AF-assist lamp

Sigh... why can't we have it all???

The viewfinder I can live without.
What does "gain up" in low light mean?
How does an AF-assist lamp help?

and...I was excited about this camera. If these things knock it out - anything comprable out there? Exilim Z55? Cannon S500?

    Thanks!
