I bought the Canon XT with the kit 18-55. Had the Canon 28-80 3.5-5.6 and just bought the Canon 50mm 1.8

Question-I've read a lot about the Tamrom 28-75 2.8 but would it really make a big difference between the Canon 28-80? Is the 28-80 good enough for my everyday walk around lens?
