Thought I would pull out a few from 2003 and my C3030-Z. That June we hiked down to Havasu Falls probably one of the most famous swimming holes in the USA. Definitely as beautiful as all the all those great magazine and calendar shots make it out to be. Certainly better than I could capture on my little Olympus. The first shot is from the top of Havasu Falls looking down. The second is of the falls from the trail to the base. The third is further downstream below Mooney Falls which is much higher, but less picturesque.

Wow, that place is nice! An oasis in the desert. I definitely need to go there someday.

GoneTomorrow, where were those last photos taken? It has been great having 'normal' rain in the southeast again. I was driving between Atlanta and Portland, TN every few months in 2007 and 2008. Always managed to try and stop at some of the falls in eastern TN, but the last year they were often just dribbles like the one below of Suter Falls in May 2007.
Havasu is a great place, but the Indian village and campgrounds are very depressing. You need to plan your trip months in advance. There is a very small lodge in the village which at least will get you a real bathroom. I imagine the flood this past Summer destroyed the travertine pools. Too bad as they had just begun to recover from flood in the early 90's that killed 13 hikers.

It's at a nature sanctuary called Raven Run, Fayette Co., KY. The creek is a small tributary of the Kentucky River. There's an old ruined mill building there, a really great place.

Thanks, I'm finally able to get decent water shots thanks to the B+W 1.8 ND filter that I got. I was using a .9, which wasn't dark enough so I had to use ridiculously narrow apertures like f/22 and up.
