350D ISO test vs Sony P150

I did a brief test vs my 7.2mp sony. it is supposed to have low noise for a 7mp p&s.
simple setup, but I'll let the results speak for themselves.
I did this test for my future father-in-law who insisted that my sony would have taken fantastic pics inside the wedding room of my wedding. i told him that the images would be blurry, noisey, dark, or any comination of them. this shut him up real good.
he is a smart man and did not allow me to change any variables. not like I would need to!
the images represent 100% crops. they dynamic range of the 350D sure did help.

the room is a 14x12 bedroom illuminated by a standard 75watt bulb.

some shots of all of the 350D's ISO settings vs the 20D's will be coming asap.

You may be confusing dynamic range with sensitivity, but we get the idea. I'm not sure why anyone would think that an all-in-one would be more sensitive than a dSLR, but OK.

Sometimes this gets hard to follow. Sony...Kodak...Canon.

he didnt understand that p&s is not the same as dslr quality.
today he told me an analogy, p&s cameras are like ford escorts, whereas dslrs are like ferrari's.
they have similarities, like an engine, tires, wheels, doors, transmission, and etc, but the engine in the ferrari is high performance, it out puts a lot of power. the transmission is built to take a real beating, the tires are rated to 150+mph, and the overall quality is super.

he is a big car man btw.
now he gets it and now he supports my purchase.
but his daughter, she still doesn't see the difference, and doesn't think it was worth it.
oh well, marriages aren't always perfect.

You had better hope that she doesn't read the DCRP as well. Hey it worked for me...so far.
