I went back when it was open. Besides the lighthouse, the gift shop, and museum behind it are the only places you are allowed to go.

That's a little sundial on the right.

Three landings going up.

It's a tight fit.

And steep stairs, one direction only at a time.

One of the museum displays.

The top.

Thanks for the nice comment. San Vicente is only open on the second Saturday of the month most of the year. Pt Fermin. about 15 miles to the the southeast is also nice, and is in a small park area across the street from Ft MacArthur (with a museum), so you could make a 1/2 day of it.

This is the most "Touristy" shot, but I have other less "common" views that I prefer. So, what do you think?
By the way, it's time for you to submit an Arizona lighthouse, now.
Digideb,
Thanks for that awesome shot of the Point Arena Lighthouse! We vacationed there last summer but did not get a view from that angle!! It was pretty foggy when we were there. WOW - the awesome power of the sea!!

Thanks for all of the new entries.
Ddigideb...
... sorry it took me 2+ months to answer. Glad you made it to Point Arena, one of my favorit places. Point Sur is also very interesting, although I'm not sure they allow people on the "Rock" anymore, but hey, it's on the way to Big Sur so make it part of the trip. Pfeiffer Big Sur Beach is also prety photogenic.
Been kind of in a non-photo mode since by-pass surgery last January, but getting back to "The Canyon" a few week ago seems to have re-kindled the flame.
Still not a lot of lighthouses in Arizona, but I'm always on the lookout.
