If you are asking me, the second is also Pt Loma, but it is the newer one on the cliff above the water.

3 of my favorites from this summers Maine trip...#1..is sunset at Bass Harbor Lighthouse, #2..is Portland Head Light from the water side and #3 is Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse.

That first one is magnificent. Great composition and the sunset [sunrise?] behind the lightouse is awesome. Good job!

Thanks Drew..that picture at Bass Harbor was a sunset..it was very cloudy and it cleared away at the horizon as the sun set..the color was fantastic.

I can never get enough of lighthouses, my hard drive are full of them. I'm a hunter of the sometimes elusive beast myself, arg!
My wife calls it the oh oh factor when I try to figure how many lighthouses I can shoot in a days drive. She's good sport and we do not have cast iron skillets in the house. So far I made it 235 miles one way to Rockland Breakwater and Owls Head.
I'd like to add a few of my newbie pics, I welcome your critique.

Rockland Breakwater and Owls Head would be in the state of Maine in the US. I will be posting these new pics hopefully next week after Memorial Day week just as long as the wife does not scan the cast iron skillets in the market.

The lighthouse was built in 1859, under the supervision of First Lieutenant George Meade (who, yes, eventually became General George Meade), who was also responsible for the construction of the Absecom and Barnegat lighthouses. It stands 157.5 feet tall and has 218 steps to the top. The current beacon (updated in 2002) is a DCB-224 beacon that flashes a white flash every 15 seconds and can be seen for 24 miles out to sea. The original beacon featured a first order Fresnel lens, which is now on display at the Cape May County Court House.
