    Derby Wharf Lighthouse

Derby Wharf Lighthouse in "Witch town" Salem, MA.

Shot with a Canon Powershot S2 IS
    EXIF:
    F/4
    1/200 sec
    EC +1/3
    36mm efl
    Polarizer

I did some color correction and minor perspective correction post-processing. Unfortunately, the lighthouse must have a small lean to it, making it look like it's leaning to the left, despite the horizon being level.

    Comments and criticism welcome.

    Barneget Lighthouse

Goerge! Where are you?! I made a special stop to shoot this...

"Old Barney" was built in 1858 to replace the previous lighthouse that had toppled into the sea (so who did they find willing to work here, I wonder? ). It was lit on January 1st, 1859 and was retired in 1927. It stands 165-ft. tall and is now part of Barneget Lighthouse State Park on Long Beach Island, NJ.

Too bad it was closed for renevation!

As we have come to expect... a very nice shot, and thanks for the PM. Sorry I was working on some 11 x 17 prints, over the weekend, for a sales conference/show this week, so I missed a bunch of new photo postings (including my favorite here). And of course my 2000P picked this time to start leaving the black out of the image (fixed, but it took a while).

Also thanks for taking the time to include some history.

    Dun Laoghaire East Lighthouse

    Built: 1847
    Automated: 1955

This light is located at the end of the East Pier of Dun Laoghaire Harbour. It and the West Pier Light were built to guide into the harbour ships that were waiting to get into the Port of Dublin.

Not the greatest photo, but not a lighthouse you get to see that often! Taken from the side of the road...had no time to go down and explore...

    Fire Island Lighthouse

This lighthouse is 168-ft. tall and is located on Fire Island, NY and is part of the Fire Island National Seashore park. It was lit for the first time on November 1, 1858. This tower is made of red brick and was originally painted yellow. The tower was changed to the present day-mark of alternating black and white bands in August 1891. The Fire Island Lighthouse was decommissioned as an aid to navigation on December 31, 1973.

Hey George! I'm doin' alright with the lighthouses...any others that I should shoot? Did anybody do Sandy Hook yet? I can get the shot if you want!

Not too bad for a shot with an SD500...
