Wink Size most like SD500 (for case)

I am sorry for posting such a lame question... but I am trying to pick out a case for the new sd500, and the only case that canon lists as fitting this camera is the psc 50, which is a "slim fit" with no room for my extra battery. Does anyone know if I could do a search for another similarly shaped model (the s500 maybe? - that's just a guess) that would also fit the sd500?

    Thanks!

I have the same question. I had an SD300 that had a great hard leather case that was a snug fit and very protective. Does Canon make the same type of case for the SD500? I haven't seen it yet.

S500 cases work for the SD500 (Though a little tight). Still usable though.
Where is the 8 MP Elph?

I got the PSC-50 case for mine ($14.99). The only problem is that the whole point of the SD500 is to carry a monster DIGIC II 7.1MP camera in your pocket...and this particular case makes it just a little bulky. Compromises, compromises...

The case does fit it correctly, though...

    Case Ideas

I have just ordered my SD500 today, so I don't actually have it. But I have been spending most of my day today doing the SAME THING, trying to find a case. It is tough. I went to Ritzcamera.com and there are several options in the ultracompact category. Also, on Ebay, there was some neoprene cases that looked pretty cool. They also had a seller from China who was selling Canon cases made for their market that arent available over here in the US. Ultimately, I am trying to decide if I want a flip top or a complete zippered enclosure. I guess I should ask my husband, who usually ends up with my belongings in his pocket. Good luck. Let us know what you decide on and I will do the same.

The Tenba P1 fits amazingly well, is well constructed, and provides for a great price at $8.00.

I bought mine at Helix. Search any of the photo online retailers and get it. It really can't be beat. I spent 1 hour trying cases at my local Helix store, and they carry 6 or 7 lines of "case gear."

Trust me, it fits outstandingly well.

Question How well padded is the Tenba P1?

I'd like to make sure my SD500 is well-protected against occasional bumps. How padded is the Tenba P1? And is its belt-loop sewn-in (requiring you to unfasten your belt and slip it in) or closed with velcro (more convenient but less secure)?

One of the things I didn't like about LowePro and some Tamrac bags/pouches was that the belt holster closed using velcro (or a snap button). When you're carrying $500 worth of gear on your belt, you don't want to depend on a small piece of velcro to keep it there.

For the interim, I'm using the Tamrac 5214 which has a fully-sewn-in belt loop. Despite its micro category, it's rather large for this camera but I can also pack along the charger and spare memory cards.

The Canon PSC-50 case is made of stiff leather, very sturdy and tough, has a velcro top closure, has a sewn-in belt loop and is only $14.99. It is made for the SD500. Have you checked it out?

Which is better? Stiff leather or padded?

I hadn't seen it at retail but I will check it out. I still sometimes wonder which type of case can better protect my SD500: the stiff leather (stiff and thick like a Leatherman tool case?) or a padded case like my small Tamrac bag.

I find that the harder leather case is more protective of the camera, especially the LCD. I'm surprised that Canon doesn't have one specifically for the SD500 as with the SD300. Is it possible that the case is just delayed?
