Wasn't Went the Day Well the film that The Eagle has Landed was based on?

Not sure K1W1 the plot was similar though. Went the Day Well is probably a more acclaimed film but for me The Eagle has Landed is an easier watch.

Went the Day Well is nothing more than a propaganda film designed to show the public what depths the underhanded and unscrupulous Nazis would go to and that the good gentlefolk of rural England could and would match every one of their underhanded moves with resolve and British determination.
Look at it in the context of the time (1942 while England was expecting to be invaded) it was made rather than from a 21st century viewpoint.

Pretty much every film made from 1940 to 1945/46 was partially propaganda against the Nazi regime... as it should have been. Not sure the modern viewpoint would have made much of a difference.

Definitely a confidence builder for the UK during that period.

Unfortunately the alternatives are not DCRP compatible. Larger sites have problems that, with a few exceptions, DCRP does not.

It would be nice if we could run the site collectively, but I don't think that will happen, and I'm not sure if Jeff would release it in the first place.

The idea is up for discussion should the rank-and-file be interested.

I'd stay involved if you can keep it going but I don't have time or the skills/knowledge for that matter to do any of the running.

It would not be worthwhile either in time or financially for anybody to go to the trouble of setting up a fully fledged forum which would require web hosting (and cost).
As I suggested earlier a closed (if people want it to be) Facebook or Google+ group with a name that relates in some way to this site but is not the same would be a painless and free way to allow the remaining members of this site to stay in touch and would involve no cost and virtually no administration. To become a member if the proposed group you would simply have to apply to whoever is the Admin or Admins and let them know what your user name on this site is. Once it's confirmed that you are a member here you would be in on the group page.
All that would be required to set it up is for somebody to come up with a suitable name and as a curtosy run it past Jeff and if he agrees make a suitable post on this site letting people know where to go.

Sounds like a viable solution, as compared to the time/money (although not sure of what those values are).

Wondering if "DCRP Group" would be the simplest name. Assuming Jeff would be ok with that.

I like the Google+ idea. I'd hate to lose contact with the posters on this site.
