flickr is terrible for use as a forum. im not much interested in just the image share, i much preferred the interactions and discussion when it comes to forums.
nikoncafe is where i post, happy to transition to anywhere if its set up, although if its just nikon i don't think it works. who cares what the gear is ? i love the non-nikon section of nikoncafe the most. its awesome.

Considering that we have about 2 dozen active (and semi-active) members using several different cameras it probably would be best to be all inclusive, as most of us don't really care what brand is being used, but the results. Settings info and technique for one system generally translate easily to another. I think it's the images and camaraderie that most of us enjoy. If google+ (or other site) is a viable option then I'm all for migration. We have a few months to sort it out.

There are about a dozen regular contributors, and some occasionals.

let's see: Me, you (K1W1), DPR, Tim, Danwiz, Rooz, Falconest174, TheWengler, RichNY, PhilD, Sir Les, faisal, kgosden, Ravin15, jr_rodriguez,
DonSchap, Screenclutter, Gintaras, Anthony, ANP!!!, Honest Gaza, Jbomb, GabrielC, DiamondSCattleCo.

Admittedly, not all are regular posters, but all are somewhat regular on this and other forums. The problem is when the site was originally slated to close last year, most of the remaining members abandoned ship.

    D70Fan,

That member list seems pretty accurate. I have slipped in my posting lately, but do read the posts nearly everyday. I would agree that a simple, single forum would probably work fine for the number of potential members. i would certainly like to keep up with the group in some fashion.

If people really want a simple solution would be a Facebook or (my preference) Goggle+ group based around the forum membership.
If anybody really wanted you could even set up a Flickr group that would allow image posting and discussion threads but obviously users would need a Flickr account.
I don't know much about the underlying technology aspects of web pages or the internet that aren't visible, but there could be a good amount of maintenance to keep these forums active and functional (e.g. anti-spam, hacking, a change HTML or whatever web programming that breaks how this website works, bandwidth charges and management, etc.) that no one here is qualified and/or willing to work on. Plus there are a lot of camera reviews on this site that would now be considered historical information and might be hard to separate from the forums.

Yes, I can't believe I haven't been back again yet. It doesn't make sense to travel to Australia for less than 3-4 weeks and I'm caring for an aging dog that I don't feel comfortable leaving without me for that long. When he recovers from his spinal surgery I will decide whether to bring him with me or wait until he passes before coming back. I really liked Australia and enjoyed spending time with you and Rooz.

I haven't been posting in a while but have remained an almost daily lurker. This site has been really peaceful and pleasant compared to many other photography forums.

Now that I picked up Mamiya 7 and Mamiya RZ setup for shooting and scanning 6x7 medium format I'd like to see some film threads as well as digital. Who else is shooting film?

Rich you won't be able to bring your dog with you to Aus. Our quarantine processes are so arduous even permanently returning citizens often choose to their leave their pets behind overseas.

    I hope your pooch recovers.
