    Boston marathon photography and photojournalism

    Interesting article:

When the line blurs between sport photography and photojournalism
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesi...zoomed-picture

"I was covering the finish line at ground level at the marathon. Everything was going on as usual. It was jovial people were happy, clapping and getting to a point where it gets a little boring as a photographer. And then we heard this explosion." These words are from Boston Globe photographer John Tlumacki, who has covered more than 20 marathons in his home city. The joyous, celebratory, almost party-like finish area was suddenly transformed into a scene of devastation and destruction."

What would you do if you were a photographer in that situation? Would you 1) run for your life just in case there were more bombs, or 2) run towards where the explosion was despite the possibility the first bomb might be just a bait?

What has been evident is that the presence of Video and Photos enabled the quick identification of the a$#%holes responsible for the deed.

If one is a working photojournalist, the inclination (and perhaps responsibility) would be to remain on the scene and to even advance toward the action to get a better shot. Just like war photographers.
