Dread. Where the heck are you? Cranking out the latest update from the trip?

Luckily you just missed some great heat as the Southwest goes for new records this weekend. Death Valley @ 56C... Phoenix a nice toasty 49C.

Makes me glad I moved back to Monterey where it usually stays at 15C- 21C. I do like the desert... in the winter.

Here in the East we are learning to be ducks. One town in my area received over 4.5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Rivers have gone up several feet, and some have reached minor flood levels. Last two years we cooked with heat, Go figure.

Sorry for the absence, I hurt my back and just couldn't sit at a computer when I got home from work. I'm on the mend now so feel ok to sit at my home again.

I'll try and post some more of Anne's shots tomorrow if the family permit.

I'm glad I missed both types of weather you've had this week and had such moderate (though unseasonably hot) stuff. 49C is insane and would have ruined our travels.

Bummer on the back Dread. No big hurry, just wondered what was going on. Get better first, post later...

Falcon, hope you are high-and-dry up there in Kodak country. So far this year rain seems to be the norm East of the Rockies, and we even had a 1/4 inch, or so here on the central coast. A rare June occurrence during the "brown" season.

Dread, I just realized that you have filled in quite a few photo's, from your trip, going back to the day they were taken. Almost missed them, and really appreciate you taking the time to post them.
