Oly 770 w/ tripod vs. Pan FZ-20
Which would you choose, the Oly 770 with a tripod or the FZ-20 without a tripod? Why?

First thing to remember - image stabilization is not a tripod. It only compensates for shakes, not movements. It results in sharper pictures in fast exposures, and allows you to shoot handheld 2-3 stops slower than without it. It does not work miracles, it's just an assistant.
I know nothing about the Olympus, but own and love the FZ20. Still, either way, get a tripod if you plan low light shots.

I own a FZ20 and I still use a tripod. The Image Stabilization is in no way good enough to replace a tripod.
