Looking for a new and first dslr

    Don't care about size.
Used for portraits mainly, 95% of the time. So zoom is not important. Low light performance is very important. Quality hd video is also important, because it will also double as primary camcorder.
Prefer a good "auto thinker", but want controls available to learn. Image stabilization is desired.
    Budget is very flexible.
Already have a canon powershot G12, and usually have best luck on auto or scene modes. Kind of prefer canon and Nikon brands.

Looking for a black Friday deal!
But doesn't have to be on bf sale.

    Thanks

Dslr's are not camcorders so you will need to rethink that priority. They are a different animal altogether. If video is important he canon rebels seem to do the best job so I'd tick with canon. Alternately, have a long hard look at the newer sony alphas.
