Is that the sound of new shutters clicking that I can hear?

Congratulations. I'll be expecting some samples to show of its awesomeness soon!

Congrats on the new shutter. Now any new glass to go with it?
Critique most definitely desired...

Hope it's ok to be a little jealous.
The local Greens Camera has had a D800 on the shelf for about a week... but no E.
Must be strong.
Congrats!

Congrats, I'm sure you will enjoy it

lol I was thinking of you when I was driving out of ECS and must admit I had a chuckle.
I hadn't even decided on a d800, let alone an e, until yesterday morning after a sanity check with Richard in the morning. In fact I had pretty much written off the e altogether cos if availability.
I walked into ecs, and there was a couple of d800e's arrived that morning on the shelf. Right place at the right time I guess.
So far what had met my expectations is the grip. Quite uncomfortable to hold IMO. The mkiii was so much nicer in the hand. I will get used to it I guess. The frame rate feels downright pedestrian. And nikons new af switch, while neat and tidy, is nowhere near as good as the d700. The LV switch is also in the wrong place. The mkiii was far more convenient to use quickly and without changing your grip on the camera.
But what has exceeded my expectations is the IQ. The dynamic range and sharpness are out of this world. So impressed. Can't wait till the weekend !

Teds in Melbourne have them ex stock also. Standard D800s have been easy to get for a while as well.
