6D what do ya think?
http://www.dcresource.com/news/newsitem.php?id=4567
I was excited until I saw it didn't have a joystick and the AF only has one cross type point. Wireless file transfer and GPS is cool though. I wish my 5D MK III had that. I would actually prefer a 20MP sensor over a larger 24MP sensor or better yet the 18 MP sensor from the new 1D...
Looks like a good upgrade option for 60D users.

It looks interesting and I would consider it as I am trying to decide what to do about upgrading my 500D.
I have been on the lookout for a full frame and I can not see why manufactures do not put a full frame in a lower budget camera.
But until the weekend I had not noticed how much larger full frame were over APC cameras and even the 7D is large and heavy; this made me have second thoughts.
Not out until December and that means it will not come down to a decent price until the summer It will be about the same price as I can get a 5D Mk II when it comes out; may be able to get it cheaper as an import.
creative imaging options serious photographers crave.
This always makes me laugh - how many people use "Creative imaging options" in the camera?

Woops forgot about UK loading and I can pre order the body at £1799 - $2917
It would probably be cheaper to buy a flight to the USA to buy one

Looks good to me for FF on a budget, the only thing missing in my mind is a pop-up flash.

I think its a little weak. I'd rather buy a used 5d2 for the 1/8000 SS.

I agree, a used Mark 2 would be for me. or a used D700!
-
or a new Mark 3....

I see it as a clear upgrade to FF from a Rebel or 60D. It looks like it's a good entry level FF camera body. I am curious about the auto-focus system, it's stated as usable to -3ev. It only has one cross type point, but greatly improved(on paper)low light focus.
A good photograph is knowing where to stand.

My thoughts on details posted by Jeff so far:
20.2 effective Megapixel, full-frame CMOS sensor - Good
DIGIC 5+ image processor (same as the 5D Mk III) - Good
Supports all Canon EF-mount lenses with no crop factor to worry about - Bit of a pain as I would need to buy all new lenses
3-inch LCD display with 1.04 million pixels; naturally, the 6D supports live view - Good
Optical viewfinder has 97% coverage and 0.71x magnification - I am OK with as I usualy fill the frame and regret it later!
Full manual controls, with 14-bit RAW support - Good
ISO range of 100 - 25600, expandable to 50 - 102400 - Never go above 800 and try not to go above 400
11-point AF system (with center cross-type point rated to -3EV) and 63-zone dual-layer metering - My current 9 point is Ok
Continuous shooting at up to 4.5 frames/sec - Only ever did this one time
Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS - Have very little use for wi-fi and GPS would save me a step but I wonder they effect battery
Wi-Fi allows you to transfer images to other wireless devices, to Canon's cloud service, or directly to your PC - Have very little use for wi-fi but may use it if I have it when working indoors on macro.
Apps for Android and iOS let you send images onward to social networking sites; a new EOS Remote app will let you control the camera from your smartphone or tablet - No use to me as I have no other hardware suitable.
GPS saves location, altitude, and current time into the EXIF data of photos and movies - See above
HDR and multiple exposure modes - only outputs as jpg and I would probably continue doing on my PC
Records Full HD video at 1080/24p, 25p, or 30p (as well as 720/60p) with monaural sound - I have only recorded 2 pieces of video on my current camera in two years so doubt I will do any more a year.
Camera can record just under 30 minutes of continuous video, with auto file partitioning - see above
Choice of All I-Frame (All-I) or IBP compression - ?
Manual exposure controls are available, naturally - Good
External mic input - Would probably never use
SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot - Happy with
Uses LP-E6 lithium-ion battery, 1090 shots per charge - Happy with
Optional battery grip supports two LP-E6 or six AA batteries - Not interested in
Ships in December for $2099 body only, or $2899 with the F4L, 24 - 105 mm IS lens - Price in USA good in UK is bad
No popup flash might be a problem although again I have hardly ever used the one on the 500D.
I was considering a 5D MK II and a 7D but have been put off by the size and weight; this looks better.
So for me a hobby photographer who would like something a bit better it looks very good

This post made me think twice about the 6d - if the af really is better than the 5d2 then that changes things.....
