Wow. Nice going on the cameras. Looks like Nikon was ready for this launch as even my local Best Buy has the D600 in stock. Almost identical to my 7000...

That,s where I got mine at, Best Buy. Had just enough on my card. Been othking pictures of my truck in the bright afternoon sun. I was able to shoot 1/4000ss at 1.8a and 100 iso with a 50 1.8 Prime lense. Exposure was only +1/3.
I'll try to post some pic's later.

Sorry I haven't got some pic's posted. I took them in RAW only to find out that LR dose not support the D600 yet.

Nikon so need to get out of the software game, they're just not good at it. I wish they would make the code available for others to work with

For that matter, Nik Software which makes Capture NX2 was bought out by Google. ViewNX2 probably has been updated, I got a little reminder from my computer to upgrade my version of ViewNX2. A universal file format for all Nikon cameras would nice.

I've been using Capture NX (now Capture NX 2) for many years. Used with Nikon cameras it makes the work flow extremely quick, for NEF files, to the point where I rarely use PS anymore.
Note: Since the original snaffu's with Adobe, several years ago, Nikon does release their new codes well ahead of camera release. It's up to the individual software companies to update their product.

I'm told a couple weeks away, I was too stingy to pay the extra $800 to buy it in an Australian retail shop. Plus I didn't want to support a shop (Teds) that wouldn't even let me pick up the camera, it had to be bought sight unseen from the sealed box!

DPR;
From a camera store?? They won't let you open the box in their presence? must not need customers much. When I bought from our local store I always handled the piece to see if it was suited to my needs and hands. The reason I never bought a 35mm Nikon SLR, too big for my hands. their DX format DSLR's are much smaller.
