    The Yearly Camera Bag Thread

I'd pretty much settled on a Kata 3N1-33 as my new bag, until it dawned on me that the side access would be inconvenient at school plays where the parents are crammed in like sardines. Plus I really like the look of many of the backpacks that have been posted on the forum in the past. However, having to completely open a pack in tight spaces isn't really an option for me, so I'm stuck asking for some advice.

I'd like something fairly large (D200 with grip/Sigma 70-200 mounted, Tamron 28-75, Nikon 50, Nikon 105 (or Tokina 100, whichever I end up with), Nikon 35 (eventually), SB-400, and probably, eventually, an SB-900. Also need a pocket for my Canon P&S. I also want something with quick access from the top. Then I can sit with the rest of the sardines, pack between my legs, and draw my camera from the top without elbowing the people on either side of me.

I check cambags.com, but didn't see what I was looking for. So whats available out there?

    TIA.

    Rod

Rod, check out the Manfrotto Lino Pro- I recently acquired one of these as well as the Lino Rolling case and Messenger bag. The quality is on par with the Temba line and Kata line of bags but have an Italian styling with lots of black leather on the case. You can see the bag in use in the videos here: http://www.manfrotto.us/lino-pro-v-backpack
B&H is giving these away at $156 after rebate because a newer Pro VII backpack just came out. Currently the best value in high end top accessible packs in my opinion.

I also recently picked up one of the Kata 3N1 bags for use carrying an Elinchrom Ranger 1100ws battery and flash head. This was my first Kata bag and I'm very happy with the quality.

    Diamond,

Do you need or want room for a laptop or personal gear? Or is this strictly a camera bag?

Strictly a camera bag, however I wouldn't say no to something with laptop storage if that was only option.

Rich, thanks for the Manfrotto info. I checked them out briefly last night and will take a closer look. I see their sling bags are toploaders too, so that may be an option...
