My friends son was in his first MMA fight. He went all three rounds but lost. It was in a gym with fluorescent lights. I shot in RAW and edited them in LR4. I used my Tamron 17-50 hand held. I tried my Tamron 70-300 but it was too long and slow. I was in the first row to feet from the ring. He got pounded pretty bad but did good for his first amateur fight. (he won his first 2 fight)
I shot one round of video I will try to post later.

Great Photos! Sparkie. I'm a huge fan of MMA. I went through your series on flickr and you happened to get some damn good shots and very good compositions.
Even though your friend lost, he should still be proud of himself that he had the courage to get in the ring and throw all on the line. A few friends of mine train MMA as well and i hear the first few fights are pretty nerve wrecking but just like any other sport, will eventually get used to it. Hope he improves his game and one day see him in the UFC.
