It is a sad indictment on the Sony forum when brilliant images do not get acknowledged. These are thoughtful and creative images showing a significant advancement of the photographer in exploring light...yet barely a peep.
Frank, the direction you are taking is admirable and I thoroughly enjoy what you are producing. Look forward to your next edition champ.

Sad indictment?
I normally refrain from comment if I have nothing constructive to say especially when the images don't excite me.
My preference is for unobtrusive flash and I've never been a fan of the black background although I admit it can be dramatic.
I do think that Frank embraces new ideas and techniques with enthusiasm; that is laudable and deserving of praise.
Any new technique adds to the skill set and maybe Frank will refine it to the point where he changes my mind.
It's a good job we're all different.
Way to go, Frank!

Unobtrusive when it should be, yes, I agree. There are times the subject takes centre stage and all you want to do is illuminate them gently without a light source evident. In this case, there is no intent to light this subject other than to have the light source share centre stage with the subject. Its not just illuminating the subject, it creates the drama and the effect...Without the obvious use of the flash, there is no image. Well there could be I suppose, another boring 2 dimensional pretty flower. Whoopee lol.

I post my images to these sites to get comments on how to take better shots. I have gotten a lot of help over the years from all the comments. Some of which I remember and some I forget. There isn't much to shoot around here in the winter and I am trying to get a better at using my flash. I try to read up on different ways of shooting. It don't cost much to test and post my images. If I get negative comments I try to learn from that. Everybody has a different taste for what they like. I think everybody always thinks there shots are great that is why they post them. If they are told about what they are doing wrong by people who know more they will get better too. On some sites I see people comment on how great an image is and I just don't see it. I don't think telling someone there shot is great if it isn't helps them get better.
Thanks again for all the comments and help
