Stability with less weight and size?

I have an A 900 and my main lens that I use a majority of the time is the Zeiss 24-70. A pretty heavy combo, so I use the RRS BH-55 ballhead and the 3541LS Gitzo. My question is, to save space and weight for traveling purposes, would the Gitzo 2541 with maybe the RRS BH-40 do the job? Or maybe the RRS new compact ballhead and tripod (Series 1). Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

Yes I have. It looks like it would handle it just fine. Before I took the plunge, I wanted to see if anybody else with that camera/lens combination had used either setup, and if they were happy with the performance.

You might want to check out the BENRO "TravelFlat" Series of tripods. For packing, they are uniquely flat, as well as lightweight. Just a thought.

Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.
