    Nikon D800, Apologies to Rooz!

With the D800 FINALLY announced, this will be next camera.. and it has video.. Rooz, you may or may not recall my stance on this.. I said I would never purchase a DSLR with video.. so I need to eat my words I doubt I will use it much though! LOL

Anyway, I need to decide which version to get, the D800 or the D800E. Anyone have thoughts on this? I know the only difference is the AA filter, I know it's a big thing for architecture and wildlife/nature photography, but what about portrait and wedding, which is what I do. Will the moire be very noticable or bad in these type of shots without the filter? I'm all for getting as much resolution as possible but if it will come with noticable moire patterns, the slight resolution gain might not be worth it? I know it can be removed in NX/PS/LR but that just adds another step to the workflow. Thoughts?

Anyone else planning on getting one?

i was speaking to richard today about this and im on the fence with this camera. some initial thoughts...

36mp....how are they gonna keep the noise down and how will my PC handle these files ?
16mp crop mode is very useable and very impressive
4fps...i think this is a tad slow and i think that this signals a future d800s which will be a 24mp sports FX body with 7 or 8 fps
dual MC slots with SD is fantastic cos i prefer SD to keep everything consistent...plus i have wifi sd cards now.
nice screen although its not a flip screen which pisses me off
video seems much improved but we shall see
    100% VF coverage great
the d800e is interesting for sure but nikon have gone the opposite route to fuji who removed the AA filter on the xpro. fuji say that the flange distance improves sharpness and the sensor design allows for elimination of the moire effect. nikon are saying, pro shooters know what to look out for regarding moire so can avoid it and if they cant they deal with it in NX software. interesting...what if you use LR or PS ? the results are yet to be determined. and i dont get how the absense of something makes it cost more ? must be missing something here.

all in all, it looks great but i think the IQ has to be absolutely perfect to make this a real outta the park winner

I'm worried by the high MP count, hence my partial interest in the very pricey but hard to justify D4.

The battery grip will make it 6 fps, I believe, but that thing is expensive!!
The dual card slots is strange to me, you have to use BOTH CF and SD, I dont get that!

I've never been a fan of cramming MP into a sensor, but from everything I have read, and the samples i've seen, I dont think this will be a problem here.

The more reading I do, the more I am leading towards the D800 over the D800E.

the way i read it, 6fps is only available in DX mode with the grip.
