Samyang? 14mm f2.8
Yes, I know, I am being adventurous.
Has anyone got any experiences with these lenses? I have read very good reviews on the 14mm which is why I am considering it (very reasonable price also).
Its either this or the sigma 12-24 for my D700.
Anyone owned one or have any opinions?
thanks

No experiences with it, but the quality is supposed to be fantastic and the price is right. I don't see why not unless you need AF or filters.

I could tell you but I wouldn't want you to get all pissy if it's the wrong brand

To be honest I read in a few places that optically its excellent but they had some bizarre things happen (one guy said the front element fell off whilst shooting! LOL - I dont want to go that cheap to be fair). Also, I think the sigma 12-24 would be better for me - although I know its not the best optically

have also come across the sigma 15-30 which is apparently better quality. Not sure there is a massive difference from 12 to 15mm that I would notice (i.e. it wouldnt hamper me!)

Love my Samyang 8mm though optically it's so-so. I can unscrew the front element at will btw which is always an interesting conversation starter with other photographers with 'flashy' pro lenses. Overall it's built to last as I've dropped mine a few times. No experience with the 14mm though I've heard good things about it.
