need help to choose?

hey i dont kno too much about digital cameras and was wondering wat to buy?
i am willing to spend around $200 - $300 AU. i want a pretty compact digital camera with fairly good quility at least 1024 reselution, good battery life, features like sophia and stuff arnt very importnant to me as i can do that with photoshop. im not too sure about brands so wateva is fairly rielable. thanks

The HP R707 is a 5mp camera with 3X optical zoom that has nice features as well. It sells on the internet for about $US 300. The Sony W-1 is another 5mp camera with 3X optical zoom and lots of features. It sells on the internet for about $US 360.
Finally, there is the Canon S-1 which is a 3mp camera with 10X of optical zoom and lots of features, including stabilization. It sells on the internet for about $US 330.
