Good compact camera for a New York Visit??

Im new here, so thanks in advance for your help! We are going to USA soon (from UK) and visiting New York. I dont currently have a compact camera (have a biggish kodak). Really want something thats good at night, maybe a good zoom (dont think this is mega important) and shows up colours well.

Budget around £300...? Is this enough? Thanks

I'm not sure what the pricing of 4/3rd cameras are though, those would work better. Definitely they would be more expensive than the the Canon S95. There is a newer version of this camera, the Canon S100:
