On the 2 new EF-S lenses

In case you didn't know about them...

The new kit lens has only cosmetic changes according to Canon. It uses the same glass as before.

The new macro lens will be priced at $450 USD. It has a ring type USM motor.

60mm seems an odd focal length... With the 1.6 crop of EFS mount cameras it becomes a 96mm. Maybe they are shooting for those that want a 100mm portrait lens...?

Correct me if I am wrong here...60mm EFS should be 60mm on DSLRs that accept the mount. Or have I been thinking incorrectly about the whole EFS thing for months? (Still plugging away with my D60)

Sorry to burst the bubble, but even with EF-S mounts, you still have to add the 1.6 multiple as with EF lens mounts. As an example, from the Canon website,

    http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/con...&modelid=10510

    The EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 is "Equivalent to a 16-35mm zoom".
