Sorry Steve I never answered your questions. I shot this in aperture mode and steady shot was on.
Thanks

?? do you mean the Bokeh? It's not as bad in Frank's latest edit on this page so maybe the action is contributing.
Frank, I wouldn't use an action which affects IQ unless I fully understood what it was doing.
Also, the colour in that latest edit is very different.

am pretty sure its just the light reflecting badly off the grass. nothing you could do about that frank short of pulling a 70-200/2.8 or 300/2.8 out of your bag !
thats also whats giving the image a green cast, the light reflecting off the green grass.

Is it my imagination or is there a bit of front focus?

I'll admit to procrastination over things I (not necessarily others) see as a waste of my time and I have disinclination to waste time over things like looking up the EXIF.
This is compounded by the fact that I live in the country several miles from the exchange where the wiring infrastructure is ancient and which delivers broadband at 1/40th of the rated speed. Opening new pages can be a chore and uploading images sometimes impossible.

How can I test to see if it is the camera or the lens. I have been using this lens for 3 years and never had a problem.
Thanks
Frank
