Is the telephoto upgrade worth it?
I've been shooting college sports with my Canon 100mm 2.8 macro, and I'm thinking about upgrading to the 70-200mm f4L non-IS.
Do you think this would be worth it for shooting basketball/tennis/etc?
Because Words Can't Describe It.

With one of the newer bodies, you could probably get away with higher ISO. But indoors, definitely not (I agree).

For the money your 100mm 2.8 is hard to beat. It's focus is slow because it's a macro lens. I guess save up for the 2.8 70-200L or possibly a Sigma alternative.
Spook
Canon EOS 50D,7D and some lens and equipment.

Previous responses on other threads indicate the 85mm F/1.8 would be a good lens for indoors.

Whats wrong with your 100 2.8 at the moment ?
Do you find it too long too short ?
Definitely going to want to at least keep 2.8 indoors, IS is pretty helpfull at 200mm. If you need higher shutter speeds, for basketball a 85 1.8 is hard to beat.

No. I own the 28-135 IS and 70-200 f4 "L".
Either would serve you well outdoors but as noted, the 70-200 f/4 (both) can be (Can be) problematic in poor lighting.
Better? My new "[Wundekamera" EOS T21 is a very good camera body with both my lenses due to its very good "low light" imaging capacity.
You would also appreciate the T2i's HD movies.
