xD cards: what's the difference between type M and M+?

For xD memory cards what is the difference between type M and M+? I'm shopping for a new card for my Fuji F31 and see both types listed here:

From what I've read the M+ is 1.5 times faster and both types should work with Fuji F31.

M+ is faster, but in smaller sizes the older H seemed to be faster still. Generally xD cards are sooooo sloooow compared to every other media type that I find the speed differences within the xD family a total joke.
