Also, spare a thought for our friends in Queensland, Australia.
Just recovering from the worst flooding in a long time they are now contending with fierce winds and driving rains brought by the most powerful storm ever to hit Queensland. With winds reaching up to 290km/h (181mph), Cyclone Yasi is ripping roofs off buildings and has cut power to at least 100,000 people.

Looks like in 2011, we are all going to be running for cover, considering the way things are starting out. A lot of new building seems to be an obvious alternative. Probably more like a bomb-shelter than the traditional home.

That is, if you do not want to have to rebuild it again. I suppose we could always "disguise" the shelter hidden inside with a low-cost rip away cover. Kind of like environmental reactive armor. Sheesh.

I suppose you could call them "bunkers", but of a far more refined type for actual occupation by a family and such.

Imagine, at war with planet Earth. Hand-to-wind & wave combat. In a way, it kind of reminds me of Moses vs the Red Sea. I have to admit, it has that Biblical event feel to it. (Let's use this drawing for illustration. I didn't have my camera at the time. It got lost in the desert or consumed by the pillar of fire.
