Christmas w/ a SONY DSLR
Okay ... "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", again. Time to get creative in a "holiday way" with your SONY, folks.
This Tannenbaum was taken in "TREE-D"
α850 w/ SIGMA 24-70mm f/2.8 DG EX IF HSM
Zoomed: 24 -> 70mm (or as far as it got in 1/4 sec) - f/2.8 - 1/4 sec - ISO-200 - Tungsten WB

Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

Attempt 2?
Okay ... I gave it another go, after the ornaments were added. I also added fill flash ... and backed up a bit.
Still hand-held ... but interesting.

What kind of ...
Galactic Empire battle is playing itself out in your Christmas Tree?
"Yes ... yes ... let your hatred of Canikon flow, boy!"
"Your SONY Full Frame technology is dated ..."
"Your wrong, your highness. It's not nearly as dated as you're going to be!"

HO HO HO ... here we go!
A gift of knowledge ...
α850 w/ SIGMA 24-70mm f/2.8 DG EX IF HSM
30mm - f/9 - 1/200 sec - ISO-200 - CWA metering - Ceiling bounce & fill flash - handheld
Tonight, I went with a different approach to the lighting. I used the two cheaper, lamp type, screw-in SLAVE omni-flashes ... ceiling bounced & triggered by the HVL-F56AM flash on the α850. It's not perfect, but it is exceptionally portable and fast.
The results were that 90% of the shots, anywhere in the room, were lit well enough and fast enough to get even 1/200th of a second - ISO-200 & f/9, indoors, without direct flash. Yes, low-end lensing.
