    This has nothing to do with the kids being into photography.
    It's just a cunning plot by DPR to spread the lens load whilst still having access to everything.
    "Here you go son. Just put this 3kG lump of glass into your backpack because you never know I might need it after we have walked to the top of this very steep San Francisco hill!"
