DPR; not sure about d-flies this year, so far, they have been mostly notable by their absence. The posted pic in pic of the day is the only time I have seen anything worth shooting so far this year.

Just ordered a nikon d5100 with the 18-55 VR lens. I'm about 95% certain that my d700 and all expencive lenses are going to be sold. Thinking about keeping the 50mm f1.4g and/or 50mm f2.8 macro, and selling off the rest. I hardly take any pictures any more so I just don't see the point in having all that expencive gear.
Bummer Marius, glad you've got a direction but sorry to hear photography's not floating your boat anymore and you're selling down.
If it helps you to know I'm in a similar boat looking at a bunch of expensive gear and feeling disillusioned with the quality of my output. The difference is I'm just going to accept it's just my hobby and try to have fun.

Got the camera today.. While there's nothing major to complain about when it comes to image quality - the ergonomics, af, viewfinder and general lack of frills has me thinking twice about selling the D700. Will have to use it more to see if it can grow on me.. The weight, articulated screen and easy live view is kinda nice tho.
To be honest, I'm kicking myself for not getting a used d300 instead. For some reason I just didn't think about it before ordering the d5100. Used D300's are going for basically the same price as a new d5100 with kit lens here, and that is just such a better camera than the d5100. Oh well...

Well Nikon can't very well sell a camera that takes lousy photo's as it would ruin their reputation therefore they have to encourage upsell on ergonomics, so I guess it should be a surprise they're bad.

having owned both of these and driven them extensively, i can say from my end the d5100 smokes the d300 for IQ. but they cant cut it with a d700. i cant tell you how many times ive tried to go smaller and lighter and everytime ive tried, i pick up the d700, shoot a few frames and just shake my head. it cant be beat from what ive seen.
