I've shot with the d700 for a while (even had two of them at one point), so I'm familiar with the camera. It's just that it's soo good that it still keeps surprising me Anyone looking to upgrade from DX should really look at the used market now that "everyone" is selling to buy a D800. I've seen D700's for D7000 money, and that's just AMAZING value for money.

Urgh, haven't been on here in ages, so I guess it's time to boast as well.
The D80 has finally been given a resting bed, it's served me very well for many many years and it will be missed.
It's been replaced by a D700 and a D800 when it finally arrives(1 month, 3 days and counting) Lens wise I just picked up a 14-24 2.8 Nikkor to complement the 24-70 2.8. Anyone who says that the photographer is only a tenth of the picture is either talking out his arse or hasn't gone from a D80 with kitty to a D700/24-70 2.8 combo yet. I also picked up a Sigma 70-300 4 - 5.6 Macro for shits and giggles, but looking at buying a proper macro lens in the near future.
Other than that, i just picked up a nice plastic travel case for all my gear when I'm assigned to a different city. Cost me about 30 bucks, so couldn't say no
Will post some pics of the new gear soon, might even include one of the wife's face when she saw the invoice

Whoops, almost forgot about the lighting.
Been going heavily on the Strobist style as I saw a gap in the wedding photography market here. Just too many "natural style" photographers popping up and about 1 strobist style photographer, including me.
Anyway, picked up various strobes ranging from some SB-600s to SB-910's, some soft boxes, brollies, reflectors and an Elinchrome BXRi Studio to go kit(2 x 500w kit)
I'm ashamed to admit it, but the BXRi kit is still sealed in the box and I've owned it for about 3 months :/

Enjoy your turn of phrase Anco "is either talking out his arse or hasn't" .. classic.
Congrats on the gear and smart market segmentation

Rooz, that was about 5 years ago, time flies. I have to say though, that D80 served me VERY well and got me to where I am today.
Without it I might have been a *gasp* Canon shooter

Mine did too, as did my d300 and as has my d700. Mind you after numerous collisions, a swim in salt water, regular sessions in the rain, life with 3 boys including twins and over 100,000 releases my d700 is feeling the strain and looking pretty ragged. lol

100,000 shutter activations Rooz! Wow and there I was thinking I was the shotgun shooter while you were slow and considered.
Damn it doesn't feel like 5 years Anco, kudos to you for your growth from that point.
