    Just an idea ...

    A lot of people have recently asked me ... "Don, how am I going to mount a SONY 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens on my camera. I know they are the best at what they do, but ..."

    "But" THIS, pal! Here's how:

    Lose the first lens:


    C'mon ... remove it!


    You know what to do with it ...


    Okay, now acquire a SONY 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens


    Mount it tight!


    Fit that cool-looking shield


    Commence ... pleasure!


    That's all it takes. Pony up and go. Let the world know ... YOU MEAN BUSINESS!

    (Sorry, Ian. I shot this series today for a school assignment and just thought I'd share. It really is a great lens, though.)

    Don, that's not "Just an idea", you didn't break the budget you obliterated it.
    I reckon you just wanted an excuse to show off, well I can live with that.

    Here's something that Ian can afford.
    I mounted the venerable "Beercan" and popped out into the garden to take this shot in the morning sun.

    I suppose I've had the "Beercan" since the late 80's and, whilst the two modern Sony's compare quite well, they don't have the benefit of the constant f4 aperture. If you are not familiar with the lens there's some pictures and a review here.

    Ian, I see you are in the UK. I'd be happy to loan you my "Beercan" for the rest of the Summer while you think about your next purchase. I don't use it as much now I have the "G".

    Ha ha cheers guys, yep all the gear/pics look good. Sorry if I sound dumb but is the beercan a windup or a nickname for the lens. It does look good though.

    If you mean do Minolta lenses fit the Alpha Mount, then Yes!
    The A-mount was originally a Minolta design that was purchased and continued by Sony as "Alpha".
