    Full frame wide angle

There was a Nikon F4 lens released a while back people were interested in because it was a wide angle and had a 77mm filter. Anyone ever shoot with it or even know what lens it was.

On a related topic I'm assuming there won't be a killer replacement for the D700 for ages since it hasn't even gone to an s/x version yet.

I'm wondering, just wondering about options.

Once it strikes it's simply a case of convincing yourself that you "must have" the item in question and that you will never take another decent photo without that item. The convincing is usually not very hard as far as I can see.

Read Thom Hogan's blog this week and last weeks as well.

Was the lens the 16-35 f4?

Thanks K1W1, yes that was it. I agree with Thom (as usual), I'm not chasing mega pixels, I'm actually chasing a wide angle with decent sharpness hence both a lens and FF camera.

I guess I'm not yet prepared to buy but I'm certainly thinking about it.

I have the 16-35 F4 VR, but I havn't had a chance to use it propperly yet - just some random testing around & outside the house so these are more impressions than facts: The 24-70 f2.8 is sharper, the sigma 12-24 is softer - and it doesn't do edge to edge sharpness like the 14-24 and has more distortion than the 14-24.

Out of all the things I've read on the net before buying it, I think photozone's review is the one that is most accurate compared to my experiences with it so far: http://www.photozone.de/nikon_ff/492..._afs_1635_4_ff
