Can I just ask...
...how the hell did i survive without a 2nd flash and umbrellas?
yep, I got my goodies from BH Photo(excellent service) and I've been playing with my toys for 2 days straight. It's amazing how big a difference proper lighting makes to your shots.
Yeah, that's all I want to say. I'll post some pics up tonight if anyone cares to see them

I hope you're all emptied out after pissing on my parade.
I did use a small Elincrom brolly on location once, worked well until the wind knocked it over and snapped the shaft.
Luckily, these Impact brollies seem very well made. They have solid shafts and weigh a ton. I also have some heavy duty speaker stands that just happen to accept the Impact brolly adapters perfectly.
If all else fails, it's time for the assistant to earn her money

I highly suggest getting one or two sandbags. I recently did and really glad I did. They are a pain to get from the car to where you are but really worth it.

You don't want have two flashes from opposite sides hitting the face at the same time. You could use one flash off at a 45 degree angle as your fill and the second as a hair light, fill light from approx. camera position, or an accent light. Just don't have it coming at the subject as if it were another key light.
When you see flashes on opposite sides and pointing towards a model they may be used as an edge light that illuminates the side but not both illuminating the face.

another option, more expensive but less messy, is to use those weights that strap to your ankles. i stole my wifes ones and they are perfect.

Around here wives are sometimes referred to as handbags and we are only allowed one (at a time). Good luck with two but how do you get them both in the same car at the same time?

You guys crack me up.
The speaker stands I'm using are pretty heavy, so no real need for sand bags unless it's super windy.
The wedding tomorrow is at the beach though, so I guess I'll be flying kite with my new brollies
