Sony A230 vs. 35mm Camera Lenses

Hi i've recently purcashed a Sony A230 and i've been offered a Hoya HCM Zoom 55mm 80-200 f1:4 for a 35mm Camera. Q. Will it work ok?

Nope. You need A-Mount lenses.

There are certain adapters you can get to convert one mount to another. But you lose AF and metering.
I'm not so sure what mount the lens you have is but the most common ones are for the major brands like Canon, Nikon, Minolta/Sony, Pentax, Olympus and so on.
