Flash sync problem????

I thought my shutter was going on my Sony A100. I was trying to test my wireless flash when I set the speed at 200 the bottom 1/4 of the frame was black. Then when I increased the speed to 250 half the frame was black. When I set the speed to 320 3/4 of the fram was black. I removed the flash transmitter and tested it and it was working fine. I am going to test the camera outside tomorrow.

Yup off camera flash sync without TTL is limited to the body.
On the a700 is its 1/200 and 1/250 with SSS disabled.
Not sure about the a100.
Some bodies do not get the maximum 1/200 and they need to go as low as 1/160 as well.
My 7D is limited to 1/250.

Bob Atkins says the a100's Flash sync is 1/160s (1/125s with Super SteadyShot on)

When I use it wireless I can sync with any speed. I will do more testing tomorrow.

That's wireless HSS with TTL. It only works if the flash supports wireless HSS.
With wireless triggers and receivers, it is limited to the sync speed of the camera since it is not TTL.

So the only way you can use whatever sync speed you want is to get a bunch of Sony flashes like the 42,56 and 58 and use the Sony wireless system instead.

so slow it down........the picture is made by the flash anyway...not by the speed....wireless takes some time to get from pioint a to b
