    SONYNUT:
You may want to be a little more specific with the a55 you sign up for...otherwise the a55 you get may not be the kind you like... Not all a55 are created equal ;-)

    The Organisers don't allow DSLR's but don't mind P&S.
I think they think it screws up sales of pictures and posters.

and here's a Sales Ranking chart for the most popular DSLR cameras in Japan for the first half of 2010 where the NEX-5 makes #12 with 2% of sales with only one month of selling out of six.

Can't read too much into one month's figures but it's, nonetheless, interesting.

true, cant read too much into it but there is a sign here for sony, their highest selling interchangeable lens camera is the nex, not a dslr.

i find it more surprising that nikon took over #1 spot from canon. canon have released the best quality cameras by a country mile in the last 6 months but it hasnt converted to market share. shows people are making decisions on price given the state of the world economy...

The Japan charts don't really signify much since there is the rest of Asia, Europe and North America which are bigger markets.
But I like the look of the NEX though. Not much to grip but still nice.

yes they do if you are using it in the correct context. ie:comparing the market share for the same market year on year.

the size of the japanese market is certainly big enough to be statistically significant and the size of the broader market isnt really relevant as long as you are always comparing like for like.

    ......clip......
And that's likely to continue with this new NEX; the NEX-VG10 E-mount HD camcorder!
