Cool Help on Insurance claim please !

Hi everybody, I have been using an old Olympus C5050 zoom digital camera to take Infra red pictures. It has just had an accident and is dead. My insurance company will replace with a like for like camera. The problem is the C5050 had an adapter thread for my lenses and filters. The Insurance company can't find a camera with this feature and are trying to give me a replacement without them. They have refused so far to look at DSLR's as they consider it an upgrade. Can anyone here help out with any advice ? My argument to the insurers is that the replacement is not fit for purpose, they don't have to give me a DSLR just a camera that has an adapter ring and a long shutter exposure time, their argument is that is no longer found on digital camera's so tough luck !
    Thanks for any help

This was a high-end "bridge" point & shoot when you bought it. Olympus is out of that market — instead, they're focusing on the PEN series mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, which doesn't really help you in terms of compatibity.

The Canon G11 has an adapter thread, but I believe it's a much larger diameter, so that doesn't help you much with using your current accessories. (But of course that'd also be true with a PEN or a dSLR.)

I think the insurance company is being fair here. Camera specs change and models are replaced continuously. My Fuji F30 had to be replaced and there is no longer a camera with similar low-light capabilities....so they can only do so much.

Perhaps you can ask them to pay cash for the value they are prepared to cover and put that towards a camera of your choice (even if that is a DSLR)
