It was been a long time since someone asked about a function on the new cameras. Either they are not getting bought, or SONY really has done a bang up job of training the users.

Uh, sure. Why not? They closed an entire forum, because of a lack of response, right?

Why am I having difficulty with believing this?

Anyway, I would like to extend an invitation to the new SONY DSLR users, again, to good ahead and ask your questions about this "STUFF" and we will do our level best to offer a decent, workable answer or solution to the issue. I really hate the idea that there are people, out there, missing out on using their camera to grab awesome shots ... just because they do not understand how it works or makes use of light.

Remember: There is also a lot of good (if not biased) information buried in these pages.

There still is the clandestine readership ... and they have a voice, if they will just register with the forum. I see them here, nightly (right now, there are 12 viewing!).

Besides, not everyone bailed to Canon, Elisha. Some just could not afford to, once they figured in the cost of in-the-lens image stabilization.

I don't think this forum has enough critical mass to really thrive like the Canikon fora do. The same problem exists in other smaller fora like Olympus and Pentax. In fact, much of the volume over the past couple years here has been nurtured by yourself and several core members. Without your active leadership, the natural activity of this forum is probably more like the Olympus and Pentax fora.

From a personal perspective, there really isn't much to get excited about with the Sony system. When they release their NEX system and come out with the A700 replacement, then we'll have something to talk about (IMHO)...

Yeah, there is that.

Again ... when you start with the small DSLRs, migration is just the way of the world. With the basic DSLR cameras only costing a mere $500 - $700 ... that is simply the cost of a relatively good lens. Once you put down serious money, in the range of $2000- $3000 for a camera body ... you usually are not so quick to take flight, until you get around 50K snaps on it.

Glass will not really be a hold back, either, because if you have bought into some serious lensing ($1000-$2000 each), you can usually get close to what you plopped down for most of them. There are enough ebay-ers out there to unload most of it. Just search for an "85mm f1.4 SONY" mount and see what comes back for the price. They are snapped up constantly.

Anyway ... any SONY APS-C voyeurs out there ... out there ... out there ...
