I would rather they did the 900 with vid....not a toy camera..oh well..

Is that your lens ... beeping?
Well, personally, the Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm f2 SSM lens is a welcome addition to the line up. The 24mm has been missing for quite a while and having the extra f-stop worth of light will allow for some more flexibility, indoors. I have been putting off the purchase of the SIGMA AF 24mm f/1.8 DG EX MACRO, in anticipation of this one. It is the looming Zeiss price that may give us all some pause.
The AF 500mm f/4 G Supertelephoto ... not so much. There goes another $6000-$8000, eh? At least you can shut off the "beep."
The ISO performance will be the make/break for the new α7xx. This HD Video "wedding cam" is probably pretty close to what Jason, Elisha & Ryan were so bothered about. Anybody have ideas on the price? Mark me down for $1300.

$1300? hmmmm I'll say $1400 even though we aren't really sure what it all does lol. 7D is at $1700 and the D300s has fallen to $1500 (street).
Looks like the body will also need a new grip (for the new body and likely new battery)

I hope the 24 isn't too expensive, since it is f2. Nikon's 1.4 is $2200, Canon's 1.4 is under $1900, both are pretty new. Sony should come in closer to $1500 on that since it is quite a bit slower.
It is quite a useful hole to fill, and provides at least one killer wide prime, since the 35G just isn't quite gonna knock your socks off.
I wonder why the other Zeiss primes aren't available, like the Canon ZE and Nikon ZF. Unless I'm mistaken, they don't offer them in A mount. I guess they only want to release AF lenses since they do have a deal with Zeiss.
I'm not guessing price for the A7x0 until we actually have specs. FPS, what video modes, live view or not, MP, etc.
And I agree with Don, the high ISO ability is going to make or break it.

It would carry the zeiss premium and it does have SSM (something the other Zeiss primes don't have which I think is excellent). Too bad it's only F/2, but the current distagons go to 2.8 and 3.5, so f/2 is nice in that regard.
I think the video mode is 1080p at 30fps (AVCHD or whatever is supposed to be so great).
As usual, high-iso performance is all the rage (the new megapixel). But for sure it will make or break it. My guess, based on previous cameras, is it performs about average to expectations and current cameras.

so this is the micro 4/3 competitor ? is it a totally new mount aswell ? ie" smaller glass ? no point having a smaller body with the same sort of glass to mount onto it cos it defeats the whole purpose. i think the new dslr body, (is it real ??) looks fabulous. a great improvement from what i can see on the ugly duckling bodies they have been churning out.
wouldnt surprise me at all if the zeiss was $2k.

From the expanded picture and label on top it would appear we have HD video capacity in those models.
And how about that G lens. From what I could see of the labeling on top, it appears to be 500mm f/2.8???

The first element usually dictates maximum base aperture
If you look close at the top side of the lens, it reveals the aperture and the focal length. In this case: 4/500G

If you do the math, 500mm / 2.8 ... the first element would have to be a monstrously huge 179mm in diameter! The weight of that kind of glass is just awful. The SIGMA AF 200-500mm f/2.8 zoom weighs 33 lbs!
Canon's EF 400 f/2.8 IS USM lens is nearly 13 lbs. and it is a mere 144mm across.

Sonyalpharumors.com is calling it the "e-mount." I guess it's safe to say it isn't the F, EF, or M mount... I haven't seen anything officially that references this, but yes, it will have to be a new mount. I guess the sensor is probably a bit smaller as well.
