Advice needed: Assisting at a workshop

I have an opportunity to assist any one international photographer coming to Dubai in March....so I was wondering who I should I assist that would enable me to improve my photography.....a lot of you have seen me grow from a newbie to a confident newbie so would appreciate some advice. I was personally thinking David nightingle or Steve Simon cause I'm not sure if I'm any good with flash.....any feedback would be great...

Here's a list to the various workshops that are going to be there...

    Thanks in advance...

Nice, you've got some really big names there, Vincent, Zack, David, Joey, Mcnally.

Vincent & Mcnally are the biggest names. I've liked Zack's work a fair bit as well though, and David is pretty famous now. Joey's done some incredible things, even moreso when accounting his age...

That being said, I'd go more by topic/class then person though.

So, you're very lucky, pick any and you'll learn tons im sure. Though you might be passed the 101 classes already.

I'm skipping Chris Hurtt as I was assisting him in November....

I'm not up to the mark of Joe McNally classes i.e he would need an assistant with good lighting experience/knowledge which I don't...

I did think about Zack Arias but I think I could learn quite a lot from buying his DVD also so I don't see the point of assisting him....unless I'm mistaken

Vincent...not so keen on video yet plus it's an advance course and I'm a beginner when it comes to video so I don't want to be a crappy assistant...

Melissa Rodwell does fashion which is not for me....not interested in that...

    Matt is too basic....

Joey is tempting but again I might not be good at assisting as I don't know my level of lighting....

Bobbi is portrait stuff...I'm tempted but something I might learn on my own as well....

    aaaahhh...I'm confused!!! :|

I think you'd be fine assisting, you basically just need to know how to setup a softbox, and what he means when he says "Lower the light by about a stop or two."

The complex stuff is what they'll be teaching, so they have to explain it anyways.

At least thats how i figure.

Im curious to see who you're gonna pick and how its gonna turn out

Your DCR's ambassador make us proud.

I'm always mentioning DCResource to anyone who asks me how I learn photography...so totally an ambassador...

Thing is I don't want to make any mistakes while assisting....If I do this right, It opens up lots of doors for me. Right now I have my foot in the door....so I'm thinking of playing it safe....hmm....I might just choose Joey...it will be a challenge and I'm tempted....

Very, very cool. Can't believe I missed this when you posted it a few days ago. Should be a lot of fun.
