You saw that video about using a colorful plate didn't you?

They look like they need more light, although a good start. Where was your light? Take it off camera and tryout that wireless function on your flash!

I did see something about a colorful bowl. I did have it off the camera. I had it to the left and lowered the power ti 1/16. I darkened them in PP to make the colors come through better. I will check out that link. I might try some more today.
