    New Flash

I got a new flash for Christmas from my kids. It is the F42. I tried to bounce the flash off the ceiling. I used my 50mm lens. Here is one image I took to test my new flash. I was not happy with all the other images I took.

Awesome. And Sony didn't gimp out on letting you use pop-up flash to remote control their flashes. Get a sto-fen for that thing, put it on the stand in wireless mode and move it about 45 degrees to the left or right from your camera. You should get consistently great results.

Nice evenly lit picture above, BTW.

Yeah, off the ceiling and the room is only being lit by the tv and a small 30w lamp off to the right. I was using the beercan Sony 18-200mm. Without the flash, it would of nothing but a blur. I am pleased with the results so far and looking forward to using it more.

Thanks Pete. I am still not sure what settings to use. I kept it on auto. I will keep playing with it.

    Very nice.
Bouncing is awesome. Remember you can bounce off a person wearing white as well if there is no wall or ceiling to bounce off!

    Looking much better Frank!

Woody, I would add +.7-1EV or so to that flash, it's a bit dark (or if the flash is maxed out since you're shooting at F/8, ISO100, set the ISO to 200 to buy you another stop).
