Which Lens should hit the Xmas List

The kit lens gives a lot of distortion. I don't know which way I am going at this point. I was just thinking new (better) glass is the way to go. I have the A100 not the A300 so any move I make will be a big one.

Apart from liveview there is little difference between the A100 and A300, they certainly share the same sensor so the IQ is the same. The big step is to the A700 or its replacement.

So which is better, an A70x or a Carl Zeiss 24-70mm F2.8 SSM Vario-Sonnar?
